Ball mill is widely used in the processing of new building material, cement, fertilizer, non-ferrous metals and ferrous metal ore mining, silicate, etc. industry. It is a key piece of equipment in the raw material preparation of the AAC block plant. Raw materials such as sand or fly ash and gypsum must be ground to fine materials before sending to the slurry storage tank for mixing.
The ball mill used for the AAC block manufacturing plant can be classified as the wet ball mill and the dry ball mill. The application and working principle of these two are different. However, the main components are the same. They all contain the feeding part, discharging part, rolling part, and transmission part (gear reducer, small transmission gear, motor, electronic controller).

Highlights of CNBM cement ball mills
High-quality original parts
High-quality materials are used for every part of the ball mills: the cylinder, ball liner, grinding media, diaphragm, and discharge grate plate. The girth gear is made from cast steel.
Low consumption
The main bearing uses a large-diameter double-row self-aligning bearing to reduce friction and energy consumption.
Simple structure
The separate mounting of the machine is simple.
Wet ball mill
A wet ball mill is suitable for materials that will not change properties when contacting with water. Water flow (or absolute ethanol) participates in the wet grinding process, and the movement of materials is driven by water flow. In an AAC block plant, sand, fly ash, or gypsum can be ground by a wet ball mill. After processing, the material can be sent to the slurry storage tank.
Advantages of wet ball mill
More adaptable to materials
Can realize continuous production
Large crushing ratio
The abrasive fineness is easy to adjust
Low requirement on the moisture content of raw material
Dry ball mill
The dry ball mill can be applied to materials that will act with water such as types of metallic mineral and non-metallic mines, especially products that are required to be stored as a powder. During the working process of the dry ball mill, dust will be generated because there is no liquid added. To avoid dust pollution to the environment, it is necessary to add auxiliary equipment such as air induction devices, dust exhaust pipes, and dust collectors.
In AAC block manufacturing, a dry ball mill is suitable for the milling of lime. Lime is first fed into the jaw crusher using an electromagnetic vibration feeding mechanism and a belt conveyor. The bucket conveyor will transport the crushed material to the lime storage silo once it has been crushed. The crushed lime will next be transported to the ball mill via a screw conveyor.
Advantages of dry ball mill
Smooth discharge of material
The cylinder does not need to be cooled
Less wear for the ball liners and grinding media
Longer service life
Low failure rate
How to choose from a wet ball mill and a dry ball mill
If you find it difficult in choosing ball mills, contact us. You will get immediate answers from the engineer. Also, here are some tips for you when selecting ball mills.
Firstly, consider the property of the material. Cement, aggregate stones, etc. go for dry ball mill only since the chemical reaction with water limitation.
Secondly, choose one ball mill based on the fineness requirements for the finished product. Finer products need a wet ball mill while a dry ball mill suits the finished product that is comparatively coarse.
Other factors such as the environmental impact, equipment cost, etc. also should be taken into consideration. Try not to use a wet ball mill in dry areas. Use wet ball mills to reduce contamination if cost affordable.
